Over 100 people have died from influenza in Perth during the last few days. The outbreak is attributed to the heat wave. The temperature averaged 99 degrees for five days, the highest, 101, being registered on Monday. Twenty-one funerals were conducted at Karrakatta cemetery, which is the highest total for any one day since the cemetery was opened 32 years ago. The previous record was 19 in 1919, when an influenza epidemic was raging. Yesterday the record went to 29. These figures arc alarming the public.
