BOARD’S MONTHLY MEETING. GENERAL BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the Napier Harbour Board was held to-day. Present: Messrs. A. E. Jull, M.P. (chairman), J. H. Joll, J. E. Jones, N. P. Eriksen, G. McKay, R. Baker, P. F. Higgins, L. Stephenson, R. McLean, J. C. Bryant, T. M. Geddis and Captain H. Anderson. Leave of absence was granted Messrs. G. C. Lowe and H. R. Peacock. A letter was received from the Nelson Harbour Board stating that it was considering the .question of deepening the entrance through the boulder bank to the Nelson harbour and information was asked regarding the Sauerman drag scraper recently in use by the Napier Harbour Board. It was also asked who ther the board was willing to hire the scraper and if so, to supply particulars regarding the capabilities of the machine and tho conditions of hire. It was decided, on tho motion of Mr. Bn. .t, to reply that the scraper might be required should the loan for work in the Inner Harbour be granted. If the loan is not granted, the question of hiring it to tho Nelson Board will be considered at tho next meeting. The Westshore Domain Board wrote stating, regarding the area of land between tho school and the Public Hall, that what was wanted was the board’s permission to clean up the beach and provide conveniences, etc., for the benefit of th- public. It was not the desire of the Domain Board to make any charge or exploit the public in any way. An application was also received for a lease or the right to erect temporary premises on the beach near the school for the purpose of selling ice cream, drin'..s, etc. A committee consisting of Messrs. L. Stephenson, J. C. Bryant and N. P. Erikson was set up to go into the whole matter and report to a later meeting of the board.
