RADIO STATIONS
MUSIC ON THE AIB. PROGRAMMES FOR TO-NIGHT. 2YA’s “Musical Portrait” this evening will be “Modern British Composers” and will be undertaken by Mr Gordon Short (pianist) and Mr Arthur Clark (tenor). Mr Clark will sing a group of songs by Thomas Dunhill, “Creation Song” from “The Immortal Hour,” by Rutland Boughton, with whom Mr Clark was associated in London, and a song of his own composition “The Water Lily.” Mrs Amy Woodward (soprano) and Mrs Wilfred Andrews (contralto) will also be singing. Tlio orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will play “Schubert’s Sketch Book” and other tunnful numbers. Associated with the Woolston Band in theii concert at 3YA will be Miss Ruby Cleverley (soprano), Mrs Winifred Andrews (mezzo-contralto), Miss Maisie Ottey (piano novelties), Mr H. Instone (humorist) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. Bandsman Biggs will contribute a xylophone solo and Bandsman Ohlson a cornet solo. Tho lecturer on 4YA’s international programme this evening will be Mr G C. Billing, Lecturer in Economics at Otago University. He will speak on “ International Trade and New Zealand Finances. ’ ’ Silent day at IYA.
