CHARGES OF THEFT
CHRISTCHURCH CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association Christchurch, Aug. 21. The Supreme Court continued the hearing of twelve charges of theft against Robert John Munro. Munro gave evidence denying the charges. Counsel for the defence said that the charges were made on the eve of the bankruptcy of the firm of Munro and Hickinbottom, for reasons they need not go into. Mr Justice Adams, addressing the jury, said it seemed thst the partners did not understand bookkeeping at all. The jury retired at 12.20 p.m.
