SOCIAL EVENING
HIGH SCHOOL PUPILS FOREGATHER. SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The annual social evening ot the pupils of the Hastings High School was held in the Drill Hall Teat evening, where there was a big gathering of parents and pupils. The function was an outstanding success in every respect. Many original and humorous fancy costumes were worn by the pupils, who found the evening all too short. For the most part the time was spent in dancing and participation in interesting games and competitions. Vocal solos were given by Miss Steele and Mr Fulton, and were greatly appreciated. Miss Rona Tong gave a splendid exhibition of the rope dance, and a ballet dance by eight pupils of Miss J. Ballantyne’s proved very entertaining. The school desires to thank the Parents’ League for arranging a much appreciated supper, also Messrs Lockyer and Co. for tho loan of a special gramophone, and to Mr J. Smith, who attended to the effective lighting arrangements.
