MATTHEWS AT BRISBANE ..37URN FLIGHT PLANNED. TO MAKE ATTEMPT ON RECORD. (United Press Association—By Cable— Copyright.) (Received. 29, 10.10 a.m.) Brisbane, Dec. 29. Matthews, the airman, has arrived mid leaves for Longreacli this morning. He' says he is confident of lowering the flying record from Darwin to Loudon. A previous report stated: Captain Matthews, tho English aviator, who flew from England to Australia, is to attempt a record flight back from Australia to England. He took off at 11 o’clock yesterday (December 26) morning. Only a small knot of people saw him off. His little de Haviland Puss Moth, in which he came from England, has been overhauled. He carries a spare propeller and sufficient fuel for eighteen hours’ flying, practically 2000 miles’ ' cruising range. Matthews expects to hop off from Oarwin on Thursday on his first sea kg of the journey.
