HASTINGS BRANCH. The Women’s Christian Temperance Union held its monthly meeting in the Methodist Hall, Hustings on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Jlickmott presided over 20 members. Apologies were received from Mesdiinies Horne Lang and Talbot. Mrs. Sutherland led the devotions and spoke on work and prayer. A report was given of homo and prayer meetings held. A visitor. from Wairon was welcomed and greetings received from Miss Lathum, Brisbane. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs. Denton in the loss of her sister. Mrs. Ross gave an excellent report of the district convention held at Dannevirke. It was decided to hold the next W.C.T.U. meeting on October 30. members to bring gifts for the Willard Home. Franchise Day was celebrated, Mrs. Wilson reading a paper. One new member was initiated at the close of the meeting. Mesdames Harper and Rae served afternoon-tea.
