HAWKE’S BAY FEDERATION. HALF-YEARLY CONFERENCE. (From Our Takapau Correspondent). The half-yearly conference of the Hawke’s Bay Federation of the Women’s Institute was held in Takapau on Thursday when there was a large assembly of delegates from the various branch institutes in Hawke’s Bay. The conference was held in the Public Hall, Mrs li. H. Tod, of Otane, presiding. In the forenoon the business incidental to a half-yearly meeting was transacted, and an address was given on the work the institute was doing in Wales, the speaker being Mrs Drage, who had recently arrived in New Zealand from the Homeland. Delegates were entertained by the local members at luncheon, morning and afternoon tea also being served. In the afternoon Mrs Harold Large, of Napier, sang delightfully and gave a hour’s concert, the accompaniments being played by Mr H. Large. Mrs Jackson, president of the Takapau Branch, moved a hearty vote of thanks to tho delegates and to the entertainers. Mrs Tod, on behalf of tho visitors, thanked tho members of the Takapau Institute for the admirable way the conference had been housed and entertained. A enjoyable and interesting day’s proceedings was terminated by the singing of the National Anthem.
