CHILDREN’S BALL

MAHORA SCHOOL FUNCTION DELIGHTFUL EVENING SPENT. OVER 500 PRESENT. An evening of great pleasure was provided for the pupils of Mahora School and district last night when the annual fancy dress ball, promoted by the Mahora School committee, parents, and supporters, took place. Over five hundred children in brilliant array spent a delightful time and, to music played by Miss B. Williams’ orchestra, they danced happily under decorations of yellow and black (the school colours'. The evening’s enjoyment commenced with the Grand March, the multi-coloured costumes affording ample evidence of the care and patience taken by the parents in the dressing of the children. The leading couples were:—Bettv Cunningham and Harry Costello Tui Morrin and Arnold Morley. Margaret Hvslop and Bob Croft, Merle Coyle and Dick Brodie. Pat von Dadelszen and Stratton Morrin. Margaret Conner and Andrew Kelt. Linnea Fredsberg anil Jock Gilray, Bessie McGregor and Jack Beale.

Then followed a series of. folk and country dances, all of which were executed in commendable fashion, and reflecting great credit on tho teaching staff. Later in the evening a dance foi adults was held, and it was pleasing to note the large number of old pupils of the school who had rallied round to make the function a success. The organising committtee is to be congratulated on their excellent arrangements. also the ladies’ committee, who spent the whole day attending to the catering arrangements.
