CHURCH NOTES

All services at the Salvation Army this Sunday will be conducted by Major and Mrs. Brasy, who hold the position of Divisional Comman'lers for the Hawke’s Bay district. The Major’s long experience of Evangelistic work has qualified him as a most acceptable leader. An invitation is extended to all.

The significance of recent happenings in the land of Palestine will be considered in the light of prophecy in the Orange Hall to-morrow night when the subject will be; “Immanuel’s Land: Gentile Dominion of Palestine Nearing its End; Terrible and Glorious Events which Belong to its Future.” All are cordially invited to attend.

The services in St Andrew’s Church to-morrow will be conducted by Rev. D. J. Shaw. Both services wih be conducted in earnest effort to help in these hard times. The evening address will be from a subject taken from the question box: “Why Does a God of Love Visit the Sins of the Parents Upon- the Children?” Strangers always welcome.

At St. Matthew’s .Church there will be services of the Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and at 12 noon, also Holy Communion at Mahora School at 8 a.m., the usual evening service at Parkvale at 7.15 p.m. and the afternoon service at Twyford at 2 p.m. The evening service at St. Matthew’s Church will be the Evensong of Michaelmas Day with lessons and hymns and address appropriate to the Festival of St. Michael and All Angels.

“The Blind Spot, or Defective Moral Vision; It’s Causes and Its Cure,” is the sermon subject for the evening service at the Hastings Baptist Church, Karamu road, to-mor-row. The monthly service at Pukahu will be held commencing at 2.30 p.m. The United Bible Class meets at 10.15 a.m. and the J.C.E. at 10 a.m. The subject for meditation at the morning service will be “The Knowledge Which Comes Through Faith in Christ.” A retiring collection will be taken in aid of the Minister’s Annuity Fund.

Home Mission services will be observed in the Hastings Methodist Church to-morrow. Special services will be held throughout the day. The Rev. C. W. Brown will preach in the morning. Anthems will be rendered by the senior and junior choirs. In the evening the service will be conducted by the Rev. W. G. Slade, M.A. The choir will sing “0 Thou That Tellest” (Handel). These special services will be continued on Thursday in Wesley Hall at 7.30 p.m., when the Rev. W. C. Brown will give nn address on “Pioneering for Jesus Christ in New Zealand.”
