CHURCH NOTES

A solo will be rendered by Miss Olive Thomas, of Napier, during the evening service at the Hastings Methodist Church, entitled “O Devine Redeemer” (Gounod). The Rev. C. W. Brown of Waipawa, will preach on "Darkness.” In the morning the subject will be "Tbs Evidence of the Urtseen.” There will be a part song by the Junior Choir (Wagner) and an Anthem will be rendered by the Senior Choir, ‘‘Praise the Lord O Jerusalem” (Maunder). At St. Matthew’s Chufch there will be Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and after Matting at 12 noon. St. Peter’s Day collection and Gospel. Hymns for St. Peter’s Day and sermons about the great apostle. Matting at 11' am. and evensong at 7 p.m., when the choir will sing the Anthem "Comes At Times a Stillness,” by Woodward. Also the usual evening service at Parkvale and Matora. The Rev M. W. P, Lascelles, general secretary of the New Zealand Baptist Union, will be the pieacbei at the Hastings Baptist Church to-morrow morning. The monthly afternoon service will be held at Pukahu. commencing at 2.30. It. the evening the sermon subject will be "The Road to Emnaus. or the Best Friend on the Road of Life.” The preacher at the latter services will be tbe Rev. Ernest Nicholls. The subject of an address to be given in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hastings. on Sunday night at 7 o’clock (God willing) will be “The Personal and Literal Return of Christ to Earth Made Necessary by the Covenants Made to Abraham and David.” All interested are invited. The services in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will be held as usual, the Rev. D. J. Shaw to conduct both services -Minister and office-bearers, organist and choir will all do rheir pari, however cold the weather—whv should not all mem lei a do the same?
