Apparently this man is a profession al lovemaker, said the Chief Detective when Cecil Granville, aged 41 t pleaded guilty to obtaining money by false pretences at Waikino and in Wellington 1927. • Tho Chief Detective said that tho accused got into touch with an entrant in a beauty contest, obtained an engagement ring from her and borrowed £25 from her father; then, knowing tho police were after him, he went to Sydney, where, according to a letter the police received ho had been at the same game. Ho was a married man with three children. A sentence of six months’ imprisonment was imposed.
