M. AND E.C. GUN CLUB MEETING easterly wind causes TROUBLE. Although fine weather prevailed I yesterday for the meeting of the Na- | pier and hast Coast Gun Club, a | strong easterly wind prevailed for the greater part of the day. proving to the disadvantage of the shooters in having the effect of “skying” the “birds.” The meeting was largely attended by both local and visiting shooters and enthusiasts, and despite the adverse wind, some good shooting was witnessed. Mrs F. N. Harvey presented a water-colour to the competitor, apart from those securing first or second places, scoring the greatest aggregate over all matches. This was won by H. Howlett in a shoot-off with H. G. Rice and R. J. Gordon. A handsome silver cup valued at logns. presented by the club’s patron, Mr A. McKinnon, for future shoots, was on view at the grounds. The results were as follow:— For the £2O Open Handicap and I. Parker Cup. 15 birds, there were 17 < thcr competitiors. I). M. Campbell. J. G. Parker, and H. Beamish shared se<ond and thin! money, whilst in the shoot-off for the cup D. M. U.nnpbe’l proved victorious over the other two competitors. In the £2O Open Handicap, 15 birds. F. X. Harvey and F. L. Joblin shared first money. The first place in the 12bird Open Sweepstake was taken by I). M. Campbell. J. Mills and X. Me-. Gaffin sharing second and third’ prizes. There were 15 other competitors. In a Xinc-bird Sweepstake W. Elliott and F. L. Joblin shared

’ first and second prizes, whilst in the I shoot-off for third money. D. M. Campbell was successful. At the conclusion of the final event the club’s president, Air Harry Ellis, presented the T. Parker Gold Cup to I). Al. Campbell, the winner, and thanked the donor for his generosity in presenting such a fine cup to foster competition. Other trophies were also presented to winners, Mr Ellis thanking each donor and congratulating each winner.
