WEDDING

WATKINS—COLTON. (By “Stella.”) A pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Alatthew’s Church on Monday evening, at 7 p.m., when Dorothy Eileen Colton, only daughter of Air. and Airs. E. Colton. Frederick street, Hastings, was married to Owen Glyn Watkins, son of Air. and Airs. Walter J. Watkins, Swansea, South Wales- the church being decorated .or the occasion by girl friends of the bride with banks of white lilies and sweet peas. The Rev. Speight officiated and Air. C. Spinney played the wedding march and the bridal hymn, “0 Perfect Love.”

The bride (who entered the church with her brother, Air. Walter Colton) looked very charming in her wedding gown of ivory silk lace, mounted on an ivory silk underdress and made with a straight bodice and long sleeves with the skirt falling gracefully in deep points. A lovely veil of white tulle (which had been worn by the bridegroom’s mother) was held in place bv a coronet of orange blossom. Silver shoes were worn and a gold bracelet (from the bridegroom’s mother). A sheaf .of arum lilies was carried. Airs. D. Spence presented the bride with a lucky white satin horse-shoe. Aliss E. K. Longly was a dainty bridesmaid m a frock of golden-peach silk-crepe, the pointed bodice defined by deep brown hemstitching and the wrap-collar finished with hand embroideries. The long sleeves had a flared cuff, and the flared skirt fell in pretty folds. The deep brown Bangkok straw hat was trimmed to tone with the frock, and deep brown shoes with stockings of paler shade were worn A bouquet of golden roses and fern was carried. Air. Eddie Williams, of Waihau, was best man. the groomsmen were Air Arthur Hawley and Air. Stan Lockley. After the ceremony about 50 guests were entertained nt the Zetland Tearooms, where the bride’s mother received her guests wearing a smart black crepe de chine frock, with a flounce of black silk lace crossing the front of the skirt Long tie ends from the collar were drawn through a diamante clasp. . A black hat, with massed, multi-coloured flowers and a feather boa necklet was worn, and a bouquet of mauve sweet, pens carried. The tables fo- the wedding breakfast were decorated with sweet peas and the bridal table with mauve and white sweet pens. The square white two-tiered cake had boon beautifully decorated bv Miss Lila Rowe, a : friend of the bride. Later in the evening the happy couple loft by car. the bride wearing a smart frock of mauve georgette, with coatee of earn lace threaded with mauve satin ribbons. A coat of mauve and beige summer tweed and a bat and shoes to tone were also worn The cars which conveyed the bridal party wore kindly lent by Alessrs. D. Spence and J. Wise for . the occasion,
