STORTFORD SALE

BIG BEEF YARDING PRICES BJETTER THAN LAST WEEK. FEW SHETP PENNED. There was a big yarding of beef at Stortford Lodge to-day which met keen demand as most of the pens were of excellent quality medium weight cattle. Prices for beef were distinctly better than last week, probably to the extent of 2/- to {typer 100, the rise being most noticeable in ox beef. There was also a fairly big yarding of store cattle, several pens being of excellent quality. Prices for stores showed a considerable hardening tendency and practically all lines sold under the hammer at prices well above the reserves. A few pens of attractive Jersey heifers were all that represented the dairy section, but these sold reasonably well. Only a small yarding of fat sheep came forward but, in spite of this, prices did not show any appreciable rise. Store sheep were also penned in small number, but the offering, principally of 2-tooth wethers, sold very well considering the quality. The following range of prices was secured prior to our going to press:— FAT CATTLE.
