A PAINFUL ACCIDENT
MAN’S LEFT LEG FRACTURED. CAUGHT BETWEEN TIMBER AND TRUCK.
At about 10.15 o’clock this morning Mr. Ainos Hill, a carter in the employ of Messrs C. and A. Odlin, Timber Merchants, was engaged in unloading lengths of 4 x 2 timber from an L waggon in the Hastings railway yards, when a string of empty waggons, which were being shunted and which were easing down in speed, hooked on to the waggons on one of which Mr. Hill was working, with the result that the impact caused his truck to make a sudden jerking movement, resulting in his left leg being crushed between the lengths of timber he was transferring to his cart and the edge of the open doorway of the iron waggon. He was medically attended and it was found that he had suffered a fracture of the left leg. besides enduring considerable shock. After being medically treated, he was despatched to tho Napier Hospital in an ambulance.
