METHODIST ANNUAL SYNOD
SESSIONS OPENED AT HASTINGS. The annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay and Manawatu Methodist annual Synod opened its representative meetting this morning at Hastings, preceded by Holy Communion. The chairman of the district, Rev. F. Copeland, presided. At the communion, Senior Ministers Father Jones and the Rev. Geo. Frost assisted. During the service the Rev Hedley White, of Dannevirke, gave an address, basing his remarks on the words: “Here O My Lord I see thee face to face.” There was a large attendance. At a later period the chairman of tho district officially welcome 1 new members to the Synod, and alsu extended a welcome to the Rev. E. P. Rlamires, general secretary of the Young People’s Department. The chairman gave an excellent address carefully reviewing the work of the church and its future. There was a clarion call for faith in God. Tho Rev. /Ernest Parsons was granted permission to visit England in 1930. The Synod, which is attended by a well representative gathering of the whole district, will sit this evening, and it is expected that the sessions will conclude to-morrow afternoon.
