VICE-REGAL VISIT
THEIR EXCELLENCIES COMING TO NAPIER
ARRIVING NEXT SATURDAY,
PROGRAMME ARRANGED.
Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Alice Fergusson, in the course of their farewell tour of the Dominion, will visit Napier from Saturday to Monday next. The following programme has been arranged for the visit: — Saturday.—The Mayor (Mr. J. V. Brown) and Councillors meet Their Excellencies on their arrival by the mail train. His Excellency has expressed a wish that there be no guard of honour or parade of military forces, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and band, which would necessitate those participating in it losing their Saturday half-holiday. This being dispensed with, he will proceed quietly to his hotel.
Monday —Their Excellencies will visit the Napier Hospital in the morning at a time yet to be arranged, and if time permits a visit will bo paid to the Old People’s Home at Parke Island. 1 p.m.: His Excellency will lunch at the Napier Rotary Club Her Excellency has expressed a wish to lunch quietly nt her hotel. 2.30 p.m.: A grand assembly of all school children will be held at Clive Square where they will march past Their Excellencies to the MunicijVil Theatre. 3 p.m. - Their Excellencies will attend the Navy League function at the Municipal Theatre. 8 p.m. : A civic reception and farewell at the Municipal Theatre, at which returned soldiers and veterans will be present on the stage. An address will be presented to His Excellency, while musical items will also be given. Ap opportunity will he taken either before or after the civic reception for Her Excellency to meet the District Commissioners and Guiders of the Girl Guides. Their Excellencies are to leave Napier on Tuesday for Wairoa, where they will attend the official opening of the Waikaremoana hydro-electric scheme.
