On Saturday last in Palmerston North, a man calling himself John Davis, was, on a charge of being idle and disorderly, ordered to come up fcr sentence if called upon within six months, lhe accused had toid the Bench that he would be re-em-ployed at Longburn freezing works. Police inquiries revealed that there was a position at the works for John Davis, but the accused had used another man’s name, his real name being A. Davies. The accused was arrested by the police and sentenced yesterday to a month’s hard labour on the previous charge.— Press Assn.
