In a professional wrestling contest, the first staged by the newly-formed Palmerston North Wrestling Association, Tom Alley (U.S.A.) defeated Walter Johansson (Finland) in a sixround wrestling match. With science and vigour Johansson had the better of the first four rounds, and obtained the first fall, but Alley used ,blows with the side of his hand against the Finn’s neck, and took the next two falls. Johansson appeared dazed by the blows, and the last fall was obtained with comparative ease.
