HASTINGS PLUNKET SOCIETY
QUESTION OF HOUSING. ADDITIONS TO WOMEN’S BEST BUILDING. The committee of the Hastings Borough Council, consisting of the Mayor (Mr. G F. .Roach) and Cr. G. McCormick, met representatives of the Hastings Plunket Society on Thursday morning last for the purpose of discussing the question of the enlargement of the Women’s Rest building. The question of additions to the present building, or a separate home for the Plunket Society, was discussed, and it was agreed to ask Mr. H. G. Davies, architect, to prepare a plan and estimates for the erection of additions to the present building, if it were found possible, and, failing that, to prepare a plan for a separate building, for the consideration of the Council. In the event of the latter being decided upon, the committee agreed to consider favourably the question of a tenure on a legal basis. When the plans are prepared by the architect, they "ill be submitted to the Council, and then the committee will have an opportunity of further discussing the matter.
