The death is announced of Mr. James Hixon, which occurred in Hastings yesterday at the age of 81 years. Mr. Hixon, who was a native of England, was well known in Hastings some years ago, when he was caretaker of the Central School, and, during the plague epidemic of 1918, he rendered valuable service as a general help at the emergency hospital on the racecourse. He was a gentlemanly and kindly man, always ready to help where assistance was required, and he made many friends during his residence in this district. His wife predeceased him by about six years. The funeral will leave the Church of England for the Hastings cemetery on Saturday afternoon, at 2.30 o’clock.
