COAL PROBLEM
MINERS' REPRESENTATIVES AT GENEVA. (United Press Asioclatlon-By Cable— Copyright.! (Australian and N.Z. Press Auoclation.) (Received 1. 9.35 a.m.) Geneva, Feb. 28. Messrs A. J. Cook and Herbert are here in connection with the League’s inquiry into the world coal problem conducted by the committee of the economic council. Professor Tawnay, from the School of Economics, London, yesterday made a statement on the situation in Britain. He dwelt on the subject of unemployment. The Labourites who are giving evidence have been chosen by the International Labour Office as technical experts and not ns representatives of the Labour interests. The owners have been similarly consulted already. In the meantime, the International Miners’ Federation is urging a scheme for a permanent international organisation to dealt with coal production, consumption and marketing and to include representatives of the Governments, workers, employers and consumers.
