CHANNEL TUNNEL SCHEME

SOLVING UNEMPLOYMENT DIFFICULTY. (British Official Wireless.] (Received 22, 11.30 a.m.) Rugby, Jan. 21. Sir William Bull, caainnan of the Parliamentary Channel Tunnel Committee, has approached all Chambers of Commerce to find out whether they support or oppose the tunnel scheme In another letter, asking all Trades Councils and other Labour organisations for their attitude, Sir William emphasises the great amount of employment that the scheme would mean. He gives an estimate that wages paid would be at the rate of £5 for one week’s work, so that if the cost were £30,000,000 it would mean 6,000,000 weeks’ work.
