PLAY IN H.B,

SATURDAY’S GAMES. WAIRERE v. BLUFF HILL. Wairere and Bluff Hill exchanged visits on Saturday, three games being played on Wairere and four on Bluff Hill. On the Wairere green the home rinks defeated the visitors while on Bluff Hill the home team secured one win out of four, the aggregate for the day being in Wairere’s favour by 145 points to 115. The individual scores on Wairere were as under. Bluff Hill names being given first:— Tennant, J. D Thomson, J. F. Thomson, McLaren (s), 18; L. Wood, J..C. Thomson, Runciman, Gregg (s), 25. Triggs, Greig, Barlow. Holt (s). 15; H. Ayling, S. Wood, Rowe, R, Thomas (s), 19. Harney, Spence. Steele. Bull (s), 19; McLean, Bruton, R. V. Thomas, Wray (s), 20. On Bluff Hill the scores were as under;—

Baxter, Cottrell. Rice, Burt (2), 22; defeated by McLennan’s rink, 25. Newton’s four were down with 11 against Douglas. Bayliffe, Pallot and Newbegin (s), 23. Hislop’s rink, with 14. wore defeated by Biss, Dunsford, Watson and Bendnll; while the same fortune awaited Boland’s rink, 12, against Dadson, Swailes Rose and Benton, 18. Visitors were present from the various greens in Hawke’s Bay on Saturday in honour of Mr. W. Burfield, who leaves on a visit to the Old Country next week. Douthwaite, Macklow Soreson, Schofield. 18; Laredo, Pringle, Lincoln, Godber. 16. Allison, Spinks, White, McKenzie, 22; Sinclair, Cheer Hart, Paul, 20. AT PORT AHURIRI. At Port Ahuriri rink games resulted as follow:— Richardson, Widerstrom, Forsyth, Plested (s), 16; Popplewell. Head, Andrews, Boyd (s), 14. Logan, McLean. L. Smith. McLeay (s), 17: Lockwood, Goss, Ruffell McGregor (s) 21. Brady, E. Steele. Northcroft. L. Steele (s), 24; Johnson, F. G. Smith senr. and junr., Wrightson (s), 16. Creagh. Taylor. Wills (s), 20; Crawford. Pool. Pirie (s), 17. In an extra full rink game between Andrews and Forsyth the issue was in doubt until the last bowl was delivered, the former winning by two points. The rinks r-omprised J. John, son, N. Moore, G. Popplewell. J Andrews (s). 23; D. Head E. Steele. A. Brady, W Forsythe (s). 21. Tn the singles championship between A. Pirie and R. Boyd the former landed the win, 19—14.

In the Colts’ Championshin G. Poppelwell scorer! an easy win against A. Creagh. while there was heavy scoring in the M Crawford-R. Goss game, won by the former. The holder of the Tikis. G. Wills (s) and R. Richardson led throughout against the challengers. A, Thompson (s) and J. Keating. .G. Wills (s) and A. Brady continued their uninterrupted way in the handicap pairs while playing C. Plested (s) and D. Head. Part of the journey Plested held Wills but the finish saw Wills win, and with this game the pairs are practically concluded.
