FROZEN LAMB

EXPORT TO AMERICA OPENING FOR TRADE Auckland, Jan. 19. Returned from a four mouth!' visit to his home in the United States, Mr. Walter F. Boyle, American Consul at Auckland, is convinced that New Zealand has undeveloped opportunities in America for an extension of her overseas trade, particularly in relation to the xport of frozen lamb. “The conditions are no doubt improving as far as New Zealand is concerned as a result of your shipments oi meat to the United States in recent months,” said Mr. Bovle. “Restrictions upon the importation of frozen meat from the Argentine, where foot and mouth disease is still raging, resulted last season in the shipment from Auckland of £300.(W worth of frozen meat to make good the shortage in the United States, as against only £14,000 worth the previous season. Whether you will be able to retain that market is another matter, but there are undoubtedly great possibilities for developing the maiket for New Zealand lamb. The American-taste for lamb has never really been cultivated. If it were, I have no donbt that unlimited quantities would be taken. Nothing sliort of an extensive advertising campaign, however, will do any good.
