THE FALLEN AMANULLAH OUTSTANDING FACTS DURING HIS REIGN. "A RECKLESS AND ILL-JUDGED POLICY, b [United Press Association—By CableCopyright.] [Australian Press Assn.—United Service.] (Received 21, 11.20 a.m.) London, Jan. 20. “Sympathy with the fallen Arnaniillah and his beautiful and charming Queen, must not blind us to three outstanding facts during his reign,” says Michael O’Dwyer, in an article to the “Dispatch.” “Firstly, he usurped the throne from his elder brother, Inayatullah, after their father’s assassination, m which Amanullah’s share had been suspected; secondly, he made a most treacherous attack in 1919, when British India was weakest, owing to the absence of the best units in order to conciliate anti-British Afghans; and thirdly, when he had shaken off British control of Afghanistans’ foreign relations, he wrought Ins own ruin bv a reckless and ill-judged policy.” INAYATULLAH’S ABDICATION CONFIRMED. [Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) Delhi, Jan. 19. The abdication of the Afghan King. Inayatullah, is confirmed, and Bacchasako has been acclaimed King in Kabul. He has assumed the title of Habibullah Ghazi. With a force of 15,000 well equipped men he entered the capital on Thursday and Inayatullah and his family, who had been in the citadel, sought refuge in the British Legation. Two Vickers-Victorian troop-carry-ing ’planes left Peshwur at dawn yesterday and returned in the afternoon carrying Inayatullah, his War Minister, Sirdar Abdull Azis, other officials and lady refugees. They will later proceed to Kandahar, where Amanullah resides. Habibullah’s rule is confined to Kabul suburbs. He is a water carrier’s son of the Mohomand tribe. He was formerly a soldier in the Afghan army. Once going on leave he was waylaid by robbers. He killed two, and was subsequently punished, making him a bitter enemy of Amanullah. He has assumed the title of Habibullah Ghazi to indicate that he has risen to the position now occupied bv Kemal Pasha in Turkey. This is the second time in history that a water carrier’s son has become King, the former being in the reign of Emperor Hnmayun. Amanullah has ordered the Governor of Kandahar to haul down the Royal Standard, as he is no longer King. Amanullah has a force of 30,000. with the support of the greater pait of Afghanistan, while Habibullah holds only the hilly provinces in the vicinity of Kabul.
