RIFLE SHOOTING.

NAPIER DEFENCE CLUB. JAMES TROPHY SHOOT. On Saturday afternoon the members of the Napier Defence Rifle Club fired the final stage of a match for the F. H. Janies trophy. The glaring light and intense heat made shooting conditions extremely difficult, and small scores were the order of the day. Rifleman E. L. Brathwaite was the silver spoon winner with a total of 88, while the ladder badge went to Rifleman J. Kearney, whose total was 85 off the rifle. Dep. Pres. Nicholson proved to be the winner of the James trophy with 27U points, while Rifleman Hawkins was runner up with 268 points. Detailed scores are as.follow:—
