A MISSING SOLICITOR

DECLARED BANKRUPT. CASE OF J. B. BATCHELOR. Christchurch, Sept. 4. In the Supreme Court to-day Mr. Justice Adams made an order adjudicating as bankrupt John Black Batchelor, a missing solicitor. Counsel said Batchelor had left the city to defeat or delay his creditors. Leonard Percival Voice, the petitioning creditor, said he had given £986 to Batchelor to pay as purchase money on a house. The money had not been paid. Later Batchelor put in a cheque for that amount but it was dishonoured. The police sergeant gave evidence that no trace had been found of Batchelor though inquiries had been made all over New Zealand
