PARKVALE.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Parkvale school committee was held on Monday Present:—Messrs Gilbert McKay (chairman), C. Ross, H. Cooper, R. Laws, S. Vyner, S. Masters, L. Milne, H. S. Ribbands. The headmaster (Mr G. Lord) was also present. The roll for the month was 370, hut the average attendance had been r -erselv affected by inclement • ther and sickness, the recent school ball was most successful and realised a net profit of over £3O. This is due to the splendid co-operation of the staff with tne pupils and their parents. On the headmaster's recommendation the committee resolved to allocate a sum which, with subsidy, will enable some £6O worth of books to be purchased for the school reference library. A convenient site has been decided upon for the new open-air class room and the construction work is now in hand.
