THE WEATHER
RIVERS FALLING. The rain fell heavily late yesterday evening in Hastings and at intervals during the night, out the morning broke fine, although cloudy and threatening. Up to noon, however, no rain fell. For the 24 hours ended at 9 o’clock this morning, the rainfall measured 56 points. Mr. G. R. beamish, of Whana Whana, reported that the rainfall there for the 24 hours ended at 9 o’clock this pioming wag .75 inches. At noon to-day the river was running bank high, but there was no immediate danger of flood. Durin" the morning there was only a drizzle of rain. At noon to-day the Fernhill Hotel reported that the Ngaruroro was four feet below the bridge, and was falling rapidly. The Karamu creek, near Waipatu, was reported well down at noon today.
