PILGRIMS RETURN

THE POPULAR PRINCE SURPRISE VISIT TO OLD BILLET WELCOMED BY WAR-TIME HOST. (British Official Wireless.) (Receivde 10, 10.56 a.m.) Rugby. Aug. 9. The Prince of Wales returned to London last night with the first of the pilgrims who have been attending the British Legion commemoration ceremonies in France and Flanders The main body of pilgrims arrived early to-day. On his journey to Boulogne yesterday. the Prince halted at St. Omer, where he was welcomed by the Mayor and the inhabitants of the neighbourhood in which, during the war, when bo was attached to the British General Headquarters, he spent some time. Later, he broke his journey and paid a surprise visit to the farm at which he was billeted during the war for four months. The farmer received him in his shirt sleeves, and he and his wife were much affected by the Prince's act The Prince readily accepted an invitation to take coffee, which was served in the living-room of the farmstead. On reaching Boulogne, the Prince visited the British war cemetery at Terlinsthun.
