SHEEP FROM RAGWORT COUNTRY

INQUIRY TO BE MADE.

Wellifigton Aug. 8. The risks attendant on the purchase of sheep which have come off ragwort country direct to the saleyards were mentioned in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr W. S. Glenn (Rangitikei), said that he had heard of a case in which 15 per cent of sheep which had been pastured on ragwort country had died within five days of being sold He asled the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. Hawken) if ho would have the fullest inquiries made with a view to protecting purchasers. The Minister said it was wellknown that sheep which had been cn ragwort pastures would be affected and that there was likely to be loss if they were kept without food. lie would have inquiries made, but ihti matter rested chiefly with purchasers to sfce that they did not acquire sheep which had been pastured oh ragwort.
