(Own Correspondent;. The usual euchre party and dance held in the schoolroom on Friday evening, was an enjoyable and successful as its predecessors, a large number being present. The caid tournament was playen ill cosy surroundings, taking place in a room in the schoolhouse kindly lout by Miss Ferguson (school mistress) for the occasion, and was controlled by Miss Ferguson and Mr. J. MacKenzie. The successful players were: Ladies, Miss Annie Wake, Ist; Mrs Forbes, consolation ; gentlemen, Mr. J. Symes 1, Mr. W. Kirkham, consolation. Dancing was held in the schoolroom when good music was supplied by Miss D. Kirkham, piano and Mr. Edgar Kirkham (mandolin) and during the supper adjournment Mr. Keith Kingston played an extra. The ladies dispensed a dainty supper under the supervision of Mrs. Harold Evans, after which dancing was continued until a late hour, everyone present spending a most enjoyable time. There has been much sickness in the district the last few weeks, measles being prevalent, even attacking adults. During one week, the school attendance was reduced tc nine scholars, the absent children suffering with measles, mumps, colds, etc. Mr. A. A. Brittin. who has been indisposed for the last few weeks, is now convalescent, his many friends will be pleased to hear. Mr. Ralph Haywood, who was taken seriously ill at the home of his wife’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. C. Lean, of Longlands, on enquiry was reported to be slightly improved, and his friends and relatives who have been very anxious over his condition, will be pleased te hear of his speedy recovery.
