ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

(Per Press Association.) Early on Saturday evening, James Arnold McMillan, aged 27, a baker, of Napier, fell off a lorry on the Waikaremoana Road and was killed instantly. At the inqqest, a verdict.was returned that the deceased, James Arnold McMillan, met his death from a fractured skull caused by falling off a lorry on which he was given a lift after an accident to the car which the deceased had driven recklessly, no b’ame being attachable to the driver or the driver of the lonyi previously collided with.

Gilbert Kane, aged 15, while playing football at Christchurch on Saturday, fractured his left leg. Another player. E. F. Thompson, received a kick in the stomach and was also admitted to hosptal. Neither player’s condition is serious.

At the inquest on Rose Ann Taylor, married, who died suddenly in bed yesterday morning at Dunedin, a verdict was returned of death due to heart failure following alcoholism and lack of proper care. Evid/nce was given that deceased had been on a drinking bout for six weeks.

A serious accident happened on the dredge Rimu at Hiktika on Sunday morning. During repairs a large beam struck Frederick McCarthy, an employee, laying open his forehead and showing the skull. His collarbone and right thigh were also broken. The sufferer is at present progressing satisfactorily.
