The crew of the Melbourne Steam* ship Company’s Dimboola has been paid off and the vessel tied up. The crew will be conveyed by rail back W the ports at which they signed on. When the conference of the Aus« tralasian Council of Trade Union# and Maritime Unions meets m Melbourne to-morrow, certain union officials will demand that the council either definitely remains in charge of the cooks’ dispute, with or without Mr Tudehope’s authority or retires from the dispute altogether. It is now recognised that th# Council of Tpde Unions is on its trial, and if it fails to insist upon its authority to conduct the dispute, it will have been dealt a blow from which it will not recover.
