Mrs Catherine Fraser, of Cooie road, Napier, widow of'the late Mr Evandcr Fraser, passed away at the Napier Hospital yesterday. The late lady had resided in Napier ever since her arrival there, by the ship Ballarat, 56 years ago. The deceased leaves two sons, Mr John Fraser, of Wellington Mr Alex Fraser of Napier, and two daughters, Mrs Ferguson, of Te Uri, Ormondville, and Miss Fraser, of Wellington, to mouru their loss.

The Rev Father Reginald Patrick Finn died suddenly last night at St. Patrick’s Presbytery, Auckland. Ho complained during the evening of feeling unwell but chatted with his follow priests till 11 p.m., and then re tired. He was found dead in his room this morning, the cause being heart failure. The Rev Father was born in Gisborne 42 years ago, and was ordained at Sydney in 1911. He returned from Sydney in 1927 to his parents' homo at Tauranga.—Press Associatoin.

Negotiations to secure a visit to the Dominion by Dr. J. B. Orr, Director of the Rowett Institute, Aberdeen, and a world’s authority on the subject of mineral content of pastures, have been successful. Dr. Orr, who has been spending some time in Australia, will arrive in Wellington next week, and although the length of his stay is indefinite at present it is expected that he will remain here long euough to go into the question of mineral content of pastures, which is at the moment the subject of a special investigation under the direction of Mr. B. C. Aston, of the Department of Agriculture.

The sudden death occurred yesterday afternoon ut Carterton of Mr. William Arthur Kitchen, aged 65. Deceased had been a resident of Carterton for 35 years, during most of which period he has been manager of the W.F.C.A. drapery department. He was a Justice of the Peace, and took an active interest in all matters that promoted 1 the welfare of the town. He leaves a widow and a son. He had been in ill-health for some time last and there will not be an inquest. The late Mr. Kitchen was a brother of Mr. T. G. Kitchen, of Southland Road, Hastings, and an uncle of Dr. R. L. A. Kitchen. Mr. Kitchen will leave Hastings to-mor-row to attend the funeral.
