HAWKE’S BAY SOCIET.. A SPLENDID MEETING. There was an attendance of about 28 members at the meeting of the H.B. Radio Society in Hastings last night, Mr H. B. Roach presiding, when a number of matters of interest to radio listeners were considered. It was decided to thank the Radio Broadcasting Company for its decision to give Sunday afternoon concerts from 2YA, and also for its recent transmission of descriptions of various boxing contests. In connection with the fund to instal a radio receiver in the Hastings Memorial Hospital the secretary reported that over £6O in actual cash was now in hand, and with amounts which had been promised, it was expected that the total would reach £75 within the next week or so. In con, nection with howling valves and power line interference, it was decided that a request bo made to the Wellington Radio Society asking that when th 0 Wellington radio inspector with his special fault-finding equipment had completed his work in Wellington, he be sent to Hastings and Napier for a period of inspection. The usual supper was provided after which Mr W. J. Lyons gave a most interesting lecture on the discovery of television. Mr Lyons stated that he expected certain apparatus to arrive from England within a few weeks, and, when this came he would be able to give a practical demonstration of the operation of television.
