ASSISTED MIGRANTS.
EMPIRE SETTLEMENT ACT.
LAST YEARS EXPENDITURE. (Received 20. 11.15 • ) London. March 19. The Hon. L. M Amery, in answer to a question, said that families assisted to migrate under the Empire Settlement Act last year totalled 8,029 comprising 31,1-00 persons. The total individual migrants assisted waa 63,027. The total expenditure uo overseas settlement last vear waa £1,337.097. of which £269.000 "aa recoverable cost of after-care settlement spread over a period of .years. In addition to Empire Settlement Act expenditure the Ministry of Labour had spent £37,000 in testing and training prospective migrants.— (A. and N.Z.)
