INCENDIARISM.
MADMAN’S WORK IN PRINCETON NINE DEAD IN BUNKHOUSE FIRE. (Received 20, 9.5 a.m.) Ottawa, March 19. A message from Princetown, British Columbia, states that nine men are dead, five seriously burned and a number of others suffering from minor hurts as the result of a fire, believed to be of an incendiary origin, which burned a big new bunkhouse at the Copper Mountain camp of the Granby Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company yesterday. Everything points to a deliberate and determined attempt, and would seem to be the work of a madman.
Wastepaper baskets in two bunkhouses were fired simultaneously while the bunkhouses were crowded with miners. In one instance the fire was extinguished, but in the other the flames had eaten in to frame structure before the alarm was given. In a quarter of an hour the building was a heap of ruins. The Fire Marshal left Vancouver to-day to make an*tnvestigation.—(A. and N.Z.)
