The monthly meeting of the Takapau School Committee was held on Holiday evening. Present: Messrs. N. M. Paulsen (chairman), J. A. Grant (lion, secretary), 1). Vesty, D. McMillan, W. Cuthbertson, J. Thomsen and J A, Norrie.
The headmaster’s report for the month was read and received. The school attendance still continues to he affected by measles. Minor repairs and renewals previously authorised were reported as attended to. Accounts were passed for payment and a supply of fuel authorised. The Hastings Orphans have kindly consented to give an entertainment in the Public Hall, Takapau, on September 6th in aid of the building fund ol the local branch of the Phinket Society.
On Sunday morning, at the Takapau Sunday School, occasion was taken to present Mrs. Jackson with a beautiful anticpie brass jardiniere. Mrs. Jackson had acted as superintendent of the Sunday School for many years and recently had to retire from a position she adorned cm account of health reasons. On behalf of the teachers and scholars. Miss Keegan made the presentation. In responding. Mrs. Jackson said how much she regretted severing her official connection with the Sunday School.
