COMPENSATION CLAIMED

JUDGMENT GIVEN AGAINST GOVERNESS.

Timaru, Aug. 29. The Arbitration Court had before it to-day a claim for £4O by a nursery governess, who suffered an injury through her employer’s horse stumbling and throw her when she was riding with one of the children of the family.

Plaintiff claimed that she was injured when engaged in part of her duty .therefore she was entitled to compensation under the Workers’ Compensation Act. The Court held that the girl with whom she was riding at the time of the accident was not in her charge. She went to a boarding school and came home onlv at the week-ends. Plaintiff was engaged only to teach her two younger sisters, and she went for a ride for her own pleasure, not to look after the girl she went with, who was a much better horsewoman than plaintiff. Judgment was given for defendant.
