EXPORT OF BUTTER

SHIPMENT FOR CANADA

AORANGI TAKES 5000 BOXES.

Auckland, Aug. 30.

The first of this season’s butter to be exported to Canada will be taken to-day by the Aorangi. The consignment is a small one of about 5000 boxes, of which 500 are destined for Shanghai, transhipment to take place at Honolulu or Vancouver.

The local merchants expect to do a much larger trade with Canada this season than in past years. It is still early for Canada to import much butter but larger consignments will go forward in following steamers for the western provinces. Regular shipments have been arranged to arrive between October and March, the price being 1/4 f.o.b. and upwards. One Auckland firm is reported to have sold 100.000 boxes and trade this season is expected to he so considerable as to afford much relief to the London market.
