Miss Marie Buck left Hastings this morning on a visit to Wanganui.

Sir Charles Coghlan, Premier of Southern Rhodesia, died suddenly after a seizure on the way home from church, states a Capetown cable. He was aged 64.

The death is announced of Mrs Lucy Powell, relict of the late Albert Powell. The deceased, who was 46 years of age. will be interred in the Hastings Cemetery, and the funeral will leave the Church of England next Thursday afternoon.

Mr M. A. Tremewan. president of the New Zealand Baptist Young Men's Bible Class Union, is in Hastings, and is the guest of Mr and! Mrs R. E. Barley. Mr Tremewan leaves for the south bv the express train to-morrow.

Mr D. G. Clarke, ex-Commissioner of Taxes, who has been on a visit to his daughter. Miss Clarke, organist at St. Andrew's Church, Hastings, left on hig return to Wellington this morning.

The British Prime Minister, withMrs. Baldwin, left London yesterday morning for Aix les Bains, where they will stay for about three weeks. They travel via Paris, where a fewhours will be spent, proceeding by the night -train to Aix.—(British Official Wireless.)

Mr. S. G. Raymond, K.C., now in London, will represent the New Zealand Government at the International Copyright Conference .in Rome on October 1. Among the matters to be discussed is the revision of the law enabling the Australian Performing Rights Association the right to demand a fee on the public performance of British copyright music.
