FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. Pa.merston North, Aug. 26. The first annual mooting of the Southdown Sheep Society was field yesterday. I’lie animal report stated that the outstandiiTg feature of Hie past year’s work was the change from the association covering a number of breeds to a society to deal wholly with Southdowns in the Dominion. The first volume of the society's ftoek book would shortly be ready for issue to members. Tofal flocks are close on to five hundred, and the new registrations during the past year were 76, this being a record. The assets total £62u. Tiio chairman, Mr Jas. Knight, said the prospects of the new society were excellent. The election of officers resulted: H. M. Stuckey, vice-President, James Knight (North Island) and John Deans (South Island). Council: H. J. Andrew, W. H. Buick, J. Dennis, G. F. Ellis, W. H. Gimblett, W. J. Jenkins, J. Knight. J. Stevenson, H. B. Stuckey, C. E. Vile.
