ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

An elderly single man named William Henry Bridges Flint, a gardener, and an old resident of Wairoa was found in a precarious condition yesterday morning. Ho died almost immediately. The indications are that he had taken poison. The deceased had been in bad health and despondent for some time.

While crossing a paddock a native, John Pihama, was attacked by a boar pig which was running in the paddock with other pigs. Both of liha ma’s legs were ripped bpen and ho sustained a severe wound in the back. He wan taken to hospital.

Henry Pepper, a married man. aged 72, residing at Ravensiiourne. Otago, died in hospital, having taken liniment in mistake for coughfi mixture

Robert George Moir, farmer, of Mil ler’s Flat, Otago, who was pinned be neath an overturned dray on Wednesday, was admitted to hospital yester day with severe injuries to the head and body. His condition is serious.

Mrs Eleanor Amelia, Wells, aged 56, was found drowned in a bath of water at her home at 32 Carlton Laue road, Auckland, about 1 o’clock yes terday afternoon. Mrs Wells, who was subject to heart failure, was loft alone in the house about 8 o’clock, end when her daughter went back for lunch she found her mother lying dead in the both, whica she had apparently been preparing for use. Mrs Wells was a widow.

The death occurred >» the Auckland Hospital yesterday of the infant son of Mr and Mrs Allen, of 20 Bracken Avenue Epsom, who was accidently scalded in a bath on Wednesday. The child had been placed in the bath and the water bad been turned on in ignorance of the fact that the hot water system, which bad been defective, had been repaired the previous evening.

At an inquest rooeurning the death of a middle-aged man named Daniel Fitzgerald, found dead on the Riecarton road beside Lis bent and crumpled bicycle. Dr Pearson, pathologist at the Christchurch Hospital, gave evid ence that the cause of death was internal haemorrhage associated with a fracture of the spine. Janies Ritchie, of Sockburn, said he left the city at 12.30 a.m. on July 10. When passing the Bush Inn Hotel he noticed an un lighted motor truck proceeding into town, but was unable to say wbat make. Police evidence was given to the effect that inquiries had proved fruitless. The Übroner returned a verdict that Fitzgerald died on the Riccarton road, near the Bush Inn Hotel, on July 10, death being caused by internal haemorrhage, associated with a fracture of the spine, probably caused by Fitzgerald having been run ever by a vehicle of some description.
