FRANCE v. JAPAN.
(Received 26, 9.25 a.m.) New York, Aug. 25. At the opening of the Davis Cup matches between France and Japan, the winners of the European and American zones respectively, to decide who will meet America in the final, the first singles match resulted in Cochet (France) defeating Ohta, 6—o, 6—3, 6—2, and Lacoste defeating Harada, 6—l, 6—l, 6—2. —(A. and N.Z.)
