HERETAUNGA DAIRY CO.

ANNUAL MEETING ON DAYTHE REPORT. The 35th annual general meeting of the Heretaunga Co-operative Dairy Co. t Ltd., will be held in the Hastings Assembly Hall next Saturday, commencing at 12.30 p.m. t when the following report will be’submitted:—

“The past season, as was the case tn 1925 (i year, has been hard on the dairy farmers of this district. Other districts nave benefited to some extent by an increased supply due to more favourable weather conditions, but this has not been the case in Northern Hawke’s Bay. Our output 952 J tons showing only a slight increase on the year to June, 1923, which was 948 f tons. The marketing position has been such that full publicity has already been given on the subject; it now remains for us all to endeavour to regain the lost ground that may have been our misfortune to lose owing to the artificial conditions of trade during the past 12 months. With the splendid rains we have had this winter, which squid assure good feeding conditions for the spring, taken together with the statistical position and tentative offers now being made for f.o.b. sales the prospects for the coming dairying season are very considerably brighter. “The year’s butter-fat payments nave been l/o for July, 1/7 for Aug ast, 1/4 for September, 1/1 for October, 1/3 for November 1/2 for L’eeember, February, and March, 1/1 for April, 1/3 for May and 1/4 for June. With the bonuses recommended by the directors, as shown below, the average pay out to shareholders will be just 1/4. This will compare very favourably with an other butter fae tory pay out for the season. The bon uses recommended by the directors are: That the bonus be Ijd to shareholders who supplied over 3001 be of butter fat. That the bonus be Id to non-shareholders who supplied over SOOIbs of butter-fat. These bonuses will be paid over the whole year s supply and deductions will be made for shares held by B shareholders as usual. The payment of these bonuses together with the dividend of 7 per cent on the paid-up capital of supplying shareholders will absorb some £ll,OOB of the £11,328 at credit of the appropriation account, leaving say £320 pounds to be carried forward.

“We again stress upon suppliers the necessity of taking the greatest care of their cream so that it may be delivered at the factory in first class condition. This matter is very important in view of the Government cream grading regulations, under which all cream must be paid for absolutely according to quality Suppliers have been circularised in this connection respecting the use of benzine and other similar tins, which are both unsuitable and insanitary and should not be used. We would also again point out to suppliers the advisability of using collers, which may be obtained through the factory at a reasonable price. The services of the farm instructor haVe been very beneficial to the company, and we hope that the suppliers will avail themselves of his advice and assistance when necessary.”
