BRITISH BOYS IN CANADA

TRAINING IN AGRICULTURE (British Official Wireless). Rugby, Aug. 23The Overseas Settlement Committee has arranged with the Fellowship of the British Empire to share with them the cost of twelve scholarships for boys to be selected in this country by the Fellowship for a two years’ course in agricultural training at Geulph College, Ontario, Canada. During that period the boys will be under the special care of the Ontario Government. At the conclusion of the training they will be found suitable work and looked after by the Government authorities as long as necessary. From October, 1925, to June, 1927, the Fellowship of the British Empire, in conjunction with the Overseas Settlement Committee, sent altogether 171 British boys to Canada, Australia and New Zealand for terms of .agricultural education, varying from one to two years. Reports so far regarding the lads show that in a number of cases independence—not merely a wage-earner's life—is already in sight and give other proofs of excellent chances awaiting British boys of the right tyye in the overseas Empire. The Fellowship awards scholarships also to girls, of whom 22 are already in Canada as students for the teaching profession. A further party of six girl scholars sails. to South Africa next month for training, also as teachers, at Grahamstown.
