CENTRAL H.B. SUB-UNION MEETS.

TE AUTE TROUBLE ENDED. A meeting of the management committee of the Central Hawke's Bay Rugby Sub-Union was held in Waipukurau on Tuesday night, Mr W. J. Wood, chairman, presiding. The headmaster, Te Aute College, (Mr E. G. Loten) forwarded an explanation as to the withdrawal of the College from all Central Hawke’s Bay fixtures “'As you know there was no certainty of permission to play Dannevirke being granted, and because I could not risk a refusal, the team was withdrawn,” wrote Mr. Loten- He expressed appreciation of the sentiments recorded as to the part played by the College teams in Central Hawke’s Bay Rugby. Te Aute’s position in the Union was then discussed, and a motion passed rescinding a previous resolution accepting Te Aute’s withdrawal from the Sub-Union, Strong criticism was made of the headmaster's action in allowing Te Aute to withdraw from a championship fixture just to suit the convenience of the College. GENERAL. Permission was granted Te Aute College to play Napier High School juniors on Wednesday, August 21, at Napier. Permission was also grant ed the Napier Centre and Southern H.B. primary school to play the Ross Shield final at Waipukurau on Saturday, and for the Marist Bros. (Napier) to play Waipukurau fourths on the 17th. A furtlKi grant to the Hawke’s Bay Referees' of £5 for travelling expenses was made. A resolution was passed appointing the chairman, secretary and Mr. Johnstone a committee to wait upon the Hawke's Bay Union as to the purchase of a ground, with power to act.
